Niagara-on-the-Lake Council Appoints Interim CAO


At the December 15, 2023, Special Council Meeting, Town Council passed a motion to appoint Bruce Zvaniga as Interim Chief Administrative Officer (CAO) effective January 1, 2024.

“I am optimistic about the recruitment process for Chief Administrative Officer and finding a suitable candidate that serves the Niagara-on-the-Lake community. Until this candidate is hired, Bruce’s significant abilities and experience make him more than well-equipped to handle the responsibilities of the Interim CAO.”

With 40 years of experience leading municipal government services and critical infrastructure projects for various municipalities, Bruce has been instrumental in driving initiatives that facilitate change, foster partnerships, and implement nationally recognized innovations. His executive leadership spans multiple municipalities, where he has overseen transformative projects such as the consolidated Niagara Transit Commission, South Niagara Falls Wastewater Systems, Hurontario Light Rail Transit (LRT), Burlington’s Prosperity Corridor, and Toronto’s Waterfront Revitalization.

Bruce brings extensive expertise in recruiting, developing, and retaining staff, demonstrating a strong commitment to community well-being and public service excellence. He is a licenced professional engineer and has held significant roles in transportation organizations, including serving as the Vice-Chair of Intelligent Transportation Systems Canada.

Town Council is confident that Bruce will provide strong leadership during this transition period and ensure that the Town continues to operate smoothly.

The process for the recruitment of a permanent CAO is beginning shortly, and Town Council is committed to finding the best candidate for the role.
