All established, emerging and student artists living in the Niagara region are invited to submit their works to the 15th Annual City of St. Catharines Annual Juried Art Exhibit entitled Phases.
The theme asks artists to explore how they understand and interpret the total solar eclipse phenomenon. The exhibit will be displayed in the third-floor gallery space at City Hall at 50 Church Street from Sept. 20, 2024, to March 14, 2025.
“We are excited to again extend the invitation to local artists to submit their works to our annual exhibit. Artists are being asked to explore the interplay of light and darkness, unveiling layers of cosmic beauty as they feel inspired by the total eclipse passing over Niagara region this April.”Culture Coordinator Olivia Hope
Submissions of original artwork created within the past three years are eligible and a maximum of three works will be considered per artist. New for 2024, 3-D works will also be considered as long as they fit within an 18-inch square display case. Selected artists will be paid an exhibition fee and their work will be considered for acquisition into the City of St. Catharines’ Civic Art Collection. There are no costs associated with entry.
The submission deadline is Monday, June 24, at 4:30 p.m.
The City Hall exhibit program is coordinated through the Cultural Services Office of the City’s Community, Recreation and Culture Services department. The City started the exhibit program in 2005 and has continued each year with three new exhibits. The program provides City Hall visitors with original art or cultural treasures that reflect city stories, creative self-expression, experiences and perspectives.
